Today we have had a great event at school. The Opening Ceremony of the Olympics has taken place. There has been a parade of the Olympic teams while some students played the national anthems of each country, some speeches have been given by the teachers of the participating countries, some students of the school have performed typical Catalan dances, the Olympic torch has arrived to the school and the Olympic flag has been hoisted, to finish the ceremony the mini-olympics has been opened.
Then the students have prepared some presentations on their schools and countries and in the afternoon we have been delighted with the Reception given by Manel Pérez at the Town Hall. To finish with the afternoon activities, the students have played a Camera Treasure Hunt game to discover the most important buildings of Terrassa.
In the evening we will have a workshop where we will see how a group of “castellers” build human towers, another typical landmark of our country, which was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2010.
It’s been a great day, full of new experiences everybody will remember.
